  i'l soon be 17, i'm an unbaptized publisher, but innactive (havent gone door to door)for more than a year, but still very strict with our organisation's standards (lyk no teenage dating).

  Hello xtreemlyconfused17,and Welcome . Your are very lucky to be so young ,unbaptised ,and yet so aware . I agree it is frightening when your whole belief system comes into question .

  I was raised as a JW ,and then married a Witness ,and raised my three children in the religion . All my life (even as a child ) there were things about being a Witness that did not set well with me . Your circumstances may be different ,but for me growing up in the 1960's-1970's there was extreme FEAR instilled into Witness children . Fear of the END which was always just around the corner . Fear that any childish/teenage mis-step may cost me my eternal life . Fear I just wasn't good enough if I didn't pioneer ,sacrifice enough ect.. Feelings of fear ,guilt and never being good enough out weighed any belief or feeling of having a close loving relationship with a heavenly Father . I walked away from JW life at the age of 44 . It was the scariest ,but best decision I have ever made so far .

  Over the years many Witness teaching changed during MY lifetime .When this happened Witnesses chalk it up to mystical 'New Light' ...When in fact all it really is ,and has always been is Man's changing OPINION period . When years go by ,and the governing body (and anyone else ) can see the teaching just no longer makes sense THEY change it ! This is not direction from GOD ,it is simple human recognition that alterations have to be made . Seeing through this facade that the annointed are not something specially directed from God took years of life experience for me to see .

  You ask if all the annoited communicate with each other ... . My own Mother was a Witness since 1950 ,her Father was a Witness in the 1930's . She use to believe that the Annoited all reported to the Governing body ,but that is just not true ,it is a JW urban legend . Recent JW literature even speaks some what about how annoited have no special authority in a congregation ,I do not know the direct quotes ,but should be easy enough for you to look up in the cd -rom of articles . When I was young we were taught the number of annoited was sealed by 1935 ,so then the numbers of those partakeing at the memorial should naturally go down ,but if you look up the numbers what do you see ?

  It took me a lifetime to finally listen to my inner voice and look for answers . Those answers made sense because I had a lifetime of experience that collaborated what i was reading . Many of the topics you need answers for can be found using keywords under the search feature on this forum .

  You repeatedly ask about how or what you will worship ....it is a journey ,there is no rush in answering that question ,and the answer entirely depends on you . You will find what works for one person does not work for another . Allow yourself not to worry so much about it, life is not Black and white like the JW dogma tends to teach .

  Before I left I was becoming so aware of how much emphasis was directed away from Jehovah and Jesus ,and directed instead towards the 'Faithful and Discreet slave". It was becoming clear to me I was worshipping an organization not God . It bothered me tremendously to realize when I was baptised in 1979 the questions I answered were a dedication in the name of God ,his Son and the holy spirit , yet by the time my kids got baptised the question had changed to say it is a dedication to the ORGANIZATION of JW's.......this is not in the Bible it is a man made decree to control people because your life is now dedicated to them .

  I've made a Witness friend at work

  a new girl has begun working in my office.

  she is a jw and has just moved to my state after leaving florida (where she's from) and where her entire family lives.

  i've become relatively chummy with her.

  Maybe she is df'd and only going to meetings to get re-instated . She could of left home because of it too . I say be her friend like any other friend . It can not hurt to tell her you studied ,that way she will know you understand a bit more about her . It may help her open up more ,then you can discuss why you quit studying .

  I believe in being truthful with people ,you don't have to tell everything ,but I do think she would appreciate to know you are more familiar with JW's than you are letting on . I also would only suggest jwn if she lets you know she has doubts .

  usually the witness by-pass our house ,so i was not even thinking it might be them when someone knocked an hour ago .

  it was a young man ,maybe 17 , and a subsitute co i remember from yrs ago .. the young man started talking right away about reading me a scripture ,he already had it open in his paperback bible (tacky looking if you ask me ).

I interrupted him right away and said ," Oh HI ,your one of the Allen brothers arn't you ? You don't remember me do you ? " . He smiled and looked at me and said ," No I am sorry I don't " boo hoo so easily forgotten ........I said ," Oh well you were really young when we quit going to meetings , it's okay " ," I am not interested ,but you have a great day !"

  I wish I could have said something more witty or got him to talk some ...guess i should have waited to listen to his presentation first ,poor kid probably worked really hard on it ,and he would have gotten brownie points from the CO !

  Well I guess I should prepare my own presentation for the next time , if that ever happens .

  Now I wonder if that CO will go back and ask the Elders who I am and why i quit ? We actually hosted this CO and his wife a couple of times yrs ago for dinner . Shouldn't be surprised he doesn't remember me cause I am having a hard time remembering his name .....I think it was Frank ....something ....from Peoria IL area .

  Has anyone here done a long distance hike?

  We were in Moab ,Utah last summer ....the noon time sun is a killer . We waited until evening to hike .

  Every summer we visit our kids in Colorado ,they live near Estes Park, and Rocky Mountain National park . Beautiful trails there ,the altitude changes take some getting use to though. This year I want to go back to a Forestry road we found that goes to the top of a mountain with great crystals along the trail . I collect fossils and rocks along every trail I go .....so I usually don't go very far because I am always looking down ,and have a very heavy backpack on the way down !

  Carry lots of water out west !

  my jw boyfriend says this all the time whenever i'm venting about life and some of its disappointments, career aspirations and how hard they are to make happen sometimes, problems with friends/family, or just random stuff that gets to me.

  i'm not a negative person or anything; i only get moody occasionally.

  i am a woman; it's kind of required.

  I was told by an Elder that it was a danger that I liked my job too much . It was a freakin part time job ,but I was doing something I liked instead of knocking on doors, and that made it dangerous .....come on and be miserable like the rest of us ! BAH

  i was shocked to hear how the slander against jehovah's name that we see in the world can be compared to a good man accused of being a child molester.

  he went on to describe how terrible such an accusation would be, and how "friends" of the accused would know he's not capable of such an act and would rally to his defense.

  at several points in the talk, he refers back to the child molester "example" and how eventually, despite the hideous slander heaped on a man in this situation (depicting jehovah in the bigger picture, we assume), that man's good reputation would be restored.

  WOW ...He is an idiot (i am sorry but I can't think of a better definition for him) ,and this is an old illustration . I have heard that one used yrs ago . Most intelligent people would realize how inappropriate this illustration really is for the very reasons stated above . But they are not thinking individuals ,they are parrots repeating ,repeating,repeating .
